Community Calendar

In this eight-week series, students will learn the foundational skills for throwing pots on the wheel. They will learn centering, basic throwing techniques, trimming, glazing, and more to begin their journey with clay. While this class is geared toward beginners, students who have some introductory skills that they wish to expand on are welcome. Price includes 25 pounds of clay, access to the clay studio outside of class, and use of community tools and glazes.

Join us this summer for sketching in the galleries!

Grab a sketchbook and pencil and get ready to learn more about the practice of sketching with Hiram Cray, a professional artist and educator. Learn how to capture on paper the amazing properties of glass or simply follow along and discover the Corning Museum of Glass through the eyes of an artist, Fridays through July 24 to August 28. Note: Friday, August 21 is the only Friday this event will not be held.

Participants of all ages are welcome and will meet in the Admissions Lobby. Paper and pencils will be provided. Free with admission.

"Five Women Wearing the Same Dress," Alan Ball’s comedy of manners, comes to Cortland Repertory Theatre Downtown this spring, presented by the SUNY Cortland Performing Arts Department. Directed by Adara Alston, the play gathers five bridesmaids in a bedroom upstairs from a wedding reception they would rather skip. As the party rages on below, the women trade secrets, grievances and unexpected friendship, each dressed in the same unflattering bridesmaid gown. Ball’s script, from the writer of "American Beauty" and "Six Feet Under," balances sharp comedy with genuine warmth. Performances take place at Cortland Repertory Theatre Downtown, Feb. 25-28.
