Local travel agents still booking trips for later in 2020

Via Mondo Travel and Wellness

A Skaneateles travel agent who specializes in customized vacations to Italy, is still working with people and booking travel during the coronavirus pandemic. Italy has been especially hard hit by the virus, and Rosemary Mondo said she’s advising clients with trips later in the year, to wait things out.

“There’s really at this point, no reason to cancel,” Mondo said. “We will revisit in May, during the times when it’s necessary. If it’s still the case, and we’re in a pandemic and high alert for coronavirus, then yes, of course we need to make those changes and adjust our travel plans.”

Mondo said she has dealt with crises before.

"I’ve seen everything: 9/11, 2008 market crash, Zika, SARS, all kinds of stuff,” Mondo said. “I just think this too shall pass.”

She said some clients have cancelled but gotten their money back and others have switched their trip from Italy to the Caribbean. For others planning travel, she suggested they base it on their personal situation; their age and health, and ability to pivot if things change.
