Border crossings from Canada into the North Country have dropped significantly in recent months compared to last spring. The decline in traffic comes amid an ongoing trade war with Canada.

Rumors have been swirling for weeks about North Country Rep. Elise Stefanik’s next political move after President Donald Trump took her out of the running for UN ambassador last month.

Stefanik has emerged as one of Donald Trump’s biggest supporters, a position that plays well in the North Country where Trump won all but one county on Tuesday.

After Trump was found guilty on felony charges, Stefanik's campaign released a statement, followed by an updated statement that amplified corruption claims.
