Join the United Way of Cayuga County and Catalyst Cayuga for a day of learning, networking, and capacity building at the annual Nonprofit Summit.

Artist Frank Viola's work will be on display at the Gannett Gallery, SUNY Poly, until October 16th. Using several media, including found art, Viola's work is thought-provoking and beautiful.

Tyler Art Gallery at SUNY Oswego presents Dialogues Across Time, a two-person exhibition bringing together the work of Juan Perdiguero and Marc Hungerbühler. Spanning three decades of practice, the exhibition traces each artist's evolution through key works selected to illuminate their individual trajectories and unexpected points of convergence.

Perdiguero's lifelike renderings of figures and animals stand in sharp visual contrast to Hungerbühler's organic abstraction, which resists figure and ground alike. And yet both artists circle the same essential concepts: control and surrender, permanence and impermanence, the tension between what endures and what dissolves. Their dialogue echoes what the Spanish philosopher Miguel de Unamuno called the tragic sense of life, which he defines as the human negotiation between our longing to persist and our awareness that all things change and end. Viewed together, their work is a sustained meditation on what it means to make something in the face of inevitable dissolution and decay. These artists find meaning not in resolving this conflict but in finding the courage to exist within the tentative state of the unknown. The resulting artworks give material form to a concept that holds sadness and profound beauty.

Hungerbühler will also be showing a two-channel immersive video installation in the White Box Gallery in Hewitt Hall. This installation will feature some of his well-known works such as Navajo, Stinger, Susie Q, and Civilian Pavilion.

Join Lisa Billington, owner of The Painted Goose, for a chance to learn how to create mosaic-style artwork. She will teach glass-cutting techniques. The subject of the mosaic artwork will be birds!

This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by CNY Arts.

In this six-session series, students will learn about the versatile drawing medium of charcoal. From its wide range of expressive possibilities to its intricate shading and texture potential, charcoal has a little bit for everyone. The class will focus on a wipe out technique working in a step-by-step process using layers to capture a full range of dynamic lighting in students’ artwork.

Utica University’s free Films on Thursday series continues its Fall 2026 season on Thursday, October 8, at 7:00 p.m. with the movie "Köln 75."

On January 24, 1975, Keith Jarrett recorded a live solo piano concert that’s sold more than 3 million copies and influenced pianists across the globe. The little-known story behind the legendary Köln Concert recording is how Vera Brandes, an enthusiastic, irrepressible 18-year concert promoter, orchestrated the event and helped rescue it from almost certain failure.

Donations of items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, and feminine hygiene products make a meaningful difference for those facing financial hardship. These everyday necessities support health, dignity, and confidence for our neighbors in need. Collected items are distributed through local partner agencies, reaching individuals and families across Cayuga County.

This summer, the Rippleton Schoolhouse at Lorenzo invites visitors of all ages to engage with history hands-on.
