The Kirkland Art Center presents "Broken," a rare juried exhibition opening Saturday, March 21. Featuring work from over two dozen, largely regional artists, the show offers a nuanced look at the concept of brokenness from multiple perspectives.

The exhibition, juried by Mary Murray, curator of contemporary art at Munson, utilizes a wide range of media—including painting, photography, and sculpture—to explore how brokenness manifests emotionally, physically, socially, and systemically. While the pieces examine damage and loss, they also highlight themes of revelation, transformation, and resilience.

• Admission: Free and open to the public

This class will be an introduction to hand sewing (a necessary skill!) and basic sewing machine skills. Students will have the opportunity to let their creativity shine while designing and sewing projects. Pillow cases and stuffies will start us off, and we will wrap up with journal covers with a few surprises along the way.

CINDERELLA

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s "Cinderella" brings the timeless fairytale to life with warmth, wit, and a touch of theatre magic. Featuring a glittering score, magically unforgettable characters, and a dash of true love, this timeless tale sparkles with whimsy and wonder. Join us for the magical musical that reminds us, Impossible things are happening every day. With six enchanted performances and free admission for K–12 students, this production celebrates the joy of theatre while inspiring the audiences of tomorrow.

YAGODY is one of the most charismatic contemporary Ukrainian folk bands that has emerged in the past decade. Founded in Lviv, Ukraine, in 2016 by Zoryana Dybovska, YAGODY (meaning “berries”) is rooted in Ukrainian and Balkan musical traditions. However, the ensemble has created its own modern and gripping sound by showcasing theatrical singers supported by musicians playing on drums, percussion, guitar, bass, and accordion. From traveling across Eastern Europe, YAGODY is influenced by a diverse world of melodies, rhythms, and themes. A YAGODY performance is ritualistic and self-described as a musical trance based on the pulse of humanity.

In 2020, YAGODY released its debut self-titled album, which features 10 songs based on Ukrainian and foreign folk music along with a music video for the song “Kalyna-Malyna.” In 2021, a music video for the single “Zelena Lishchyna” was released, followed by “Divonko” in 2022. In 2023, the band created its first original song, “Tsunamia,” which was chosen as the national selection for Ukraine at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2024.
